The forklift was being transported when it fell onto the southbound lanes.
HOUSTON — Harris County Sheriff’s deputies are on the scene of a traffic mess along Highway 249, just north of Beltway 8.
Investigators say a truck carrying a forklift lost its load. The heavy equipment became dislodged and fell onto the roadway. Only one southbound lane is currently open, creating major backups for drivers heading through the area.
Deputies say a heavy-duty wrecker is on the scene to help remove the forklift, but until then, delays are expected to continue. Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible and seek alternate routes.
At this point, we don’t know of any injuries.
