Officer critically injured in motorcycle crash at escort

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A police officer riding a motorcycle was critically injured in a major crash while assisting with an escort at the intersection of Cullen Boulevard and Fellows Road, according to a Wednesday afternoon social media post from Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash scene on Cullen just south of the Sam Houston Tollway. The uniformed officer sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

It’s not clear which agency the police officer is with.

Gonzalez confirmed in a social media update that the officer was participating in an escort at the time of the incident. No additional details about the nature of the escort or the cause of the crash have been released.
