Multiple recording devices were found at the hospital in The Woodlands, according to Montgomery County investigators.
THE WOODLANDS, Texas — A former employee of Memorial Hermann Medical Center in The Woodlands was arrested Wednesday morning at his home in Magnolia, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.
MCSO investigators are searching his home for possible evidence. We are waiting for them to confirm his identity.
Editor’s note: The above video originally aired before the arrest.
The suspect was recently fired after a camera was found in a staff bathroom.
“While performing routine maintenance, the construction team discovered a recording device that had been installed in the staff, single-stall, unisex bathroom on the second floor, just outside the West Tower,” an internal notice to employees obtained by KHOU 11 said.
In the internal communications, hospital officials said security was alerted and the device was immediately removed.
After MCSO’s Major Crimes Unit launched an investigation, multiple recording devices were found.
They said more information about when victims, including minors, might have been recorded would be released later.
Investigators asked anyone who thinks they might be a victim to email mhtwtips@wctx.org with their name and contact information.
In a separate statement to KHOU 11, Memorial Hermann said:
“We are aware of deeply concerning information regarding unacceptable behavior by an employee at our Woodlands campus. The employee has been terminated. Upon discovery, we took swift action and engaged the appropriate authorities. Our System has zero tolerance for such conduct, and we take these matters very seriously. The safety and privacy of our workforce, patients and visitors are our top priority. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement’s investigation and cannot comment further at this time.”
