Neighbors said the lot attracted vagrants, vermin and sight-line issues for drivers.
HOUSTON — A freshly cut lot along Linda Vista Road in northeast Houston is a far cry from what it was when we first visited after an email from concerned neighbor Earl Bingley, who lives right next door.
“I thank you guys for stepping up to the plate because this was not a matter of just overnight, just a week, it was, like, several years,” Bingley said.
He and others told us the overgrowth attracted vagrants, vermin and created sight-line issues for drivers.
Bingley even shared photos of one recent crash and the emergency response.
“You’re unable to see the next car coming from the opposite way,” another neighbor said.
The City of Houston confirmed the absentee property owner was cited before, and another notice was issued after our initial story.
Bingley told us the lot was finally cleared in about two days earlier this week.
“Without y’all’s help, this would’ve never been done,” Bingley said.
The City of Houston encourages concerned residents to always call 311 to report problem properties as well.
