Downtown Austin group to try out valet parking in 6th Street District

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Downtown Austin’s 6th Street District will soon have valet parking, funded by the Pecan Street Owners Association, as part of a pilot program.

Austin-based Next Level Valet & Parking, which is the operator, plans to launch the city’s first validated valet program starting Aug. 22, a press release said.

Valet parking will serve the entire Old 6th Street District, from Interstate 35 to Congress Avenue, the release said. The valet stand will be placed at 500 San Jacinto, between 5th and 6th streets.

Valet will cost $15 when validated with a same-night purchase at participating 6th Street businesses, $25 for standard parking and $45 for overnight parking, the release detailed. Businesses can validate guest parking through a QR code located inside their establishment.

“Getting to the many amazing restaurants and entertainment destinations on historic Old Sixth — and home again — should be the least stressful part of the evening,” Andies Shepard, CEO of Next Level Valet & Parking, said.

Shepard said the organization of curbside valet is so guests can “park once, enjoy their night, and retrieve their vehicle in seconds through our text-to-request system.” Shepard added that guests could pick up their vehicle the next morning if they choose to ride share home.

What should guests expect when picking up/ dropping-off their vehicle?

Valet parking is available for guests Thursday through Saturday, from 4:30 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Upon drop-off, guests will provide a phone number and receive a valet ticket. Then they will get a text message with their ticket number, review, request and pay link.

According to the release, vehicles left after 3 a.m. will be secured and available for pick up starting at 7 a.m. the following day. Guests can retrieve their vehicle at The Driskill valet located at 604 Brazos Street.
