GALVESTON, Texas — A section of Seawall Boulevard in Galveston is expected to stay closed at least through the night.
As you can see from the image above, the road buckled. It reportedly happened at around 5:30 p.m. This stretch of Seawall Boulevard is between 77th and 79th streets.
Galveston city manager Brian Maxwell said the buckling was caused by the heat.
The Texas Department of Transportation was called about the issue. Police there are waiting on road crews to arrive and make repairs.
At this point, it’s not clear if any vehicles were damaged by the buckling roadway. We’ll stay on top of this story and post when it’s fixed.
