AUSTIN (KXAN) — Growing a fruit and/or vegetable garden is something that many enjoy doing.
Some people like to get their hands dirty, digging in the dirt and planting their favorites. They get that sense of accomplishment for having been able to watch the seeds and plants grow into something edible.
While gardening outdoors is fun, so is gardening indoors. Yes, indoors. And this will be welcomed news for those who want an easy way to grow their favorite fruits and vegetables even in the hot times of the year.
Take Care of Texas, a statewide campaign created by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, offers a few tips on how to make indoor gardening successful.
Stephanie Dempsey, Education and Outreach Coordinator of TCOT, says one way to have a successful indoor garden is to make sure you give them their proper light each day, with the added caveat that sunshine is best.
She also offers an easy way to make sure your soil has adequate water and a quick, easy way to do that.
Take Care of Texas tells you what types of carrots can be grown indoors, why leafy greens are easy, and which of Texas’ favorite fruits do well indoors.
