Houston police searching for gunman accused of shooting teen on electric scooter

Houston police said the victim was riding an electric scooter on Oats Street when a person in a white SUV shot him.

HOUSTON — A teen is still in critical condition after getting shot in Houston’s Fifth Ward a couple of weeks ago, and police released surveillance video of the vehicle they believe to be involved. 

According to Houston Police Department officials, the shooting happened on the afternoon of July 30 — a Wednesday.

The 16-year-old victim was riding an electric scooter along Oats Street near the intersection of Solo Street when a white SUV pulled alongside him.

Investigators said they got into a verbal argument and then someone in the SUV pulled out a gun and shot the teen. The driver of the SUV also hit the teen with the vehicle, HPD officials said.

Nearly two weeks after the incident, the teen is still in the hospital in critical condition. Police have no suspect information except for the description of the vehicle, which is a white SUV.

The victim’s identity hasn’t been revealed.
