I-10 westbound at John Martin will close this weekend for bridge repairs, with detours and delays expected for Houston drivers.
BAYTOWN, Texas — Drivers in the Houston area should prepare for major delays this weekend as the Texas Department of Transportation plans a full closure of the westbound I-10 mainlanes at John Martin Road for scheduled bridge maintenance.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the closure will begin at 9 p.m. Friday, August 8, and continue through 5 a.m. Monday, August 11. Crews will be repairing structural expansion joints on the bridge during that time.

TxDOT warns that motorists may experience delays and urges drivers to consider alternate routes if possible. Law enforcement will be on-site to assist with traffic control.
“TxDOT appreciates your patience and reminds motorists to drive with caution through work zones and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment,” the agency said in the release.
Area residents are also urged to use caution if walking, driving, or biking near the construction zone throughout the weekend.
