AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas men’s basketball team’s Southeastern Conference schedule is out, and there will be some big games this coming season at Moody Center.
Texas faces off with Lone Star Showdown rival Texas A&M on Jan. 16 for the first meeting of the season with the Aggies, and former head coach Chris Beard brings his Ole Miss squad to town Feb. 7.
Defending national champs Florida Gators are in Austin on Feb. 25, and they’ll finish the SEC slate March 7 against the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas will play the Aggies and Sooners twice during the season, once at home and once on the road. They’ll also play a home-and-home series with Georgia.
The 18-game SEC schedule features a game against every other team at least once with two games against three opponents. Texas will always play its rivals A&M and OU twice, with a third team rotating each year.
Texas opens SEC play Jan. 3 in Austin against Mississippi State. Other home SEC games include Vanderbilt on either Jan. 13 or 14, Georgia on Jan. 24, Auburn on either Jan. 27 or 28, South Carolina on either Feb. 3 or 4 and Louisiana State on either Feb. 17 or 18.
Road games for the Longhorns include: Tennessee (Jan. 6 or 7), Alabama (Jan. 10), Kentucky (Jan. 20 or 21), Auburn (Jan. 27 or 28), Oklahoma (Jan. 31), Missouri (Feb. 14), Georgia (Feb. 21), , Texas A&M (Feb. 28) and Arkansas (March 3 or 4).
Specific dates for midweek games and times will be announced later once the SEC’s broadcast partners make those decisions.
The 2025 SEC men’s basketball tournament is March 11-15 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
