Cow Creek Bridge construction could last into September

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) said construction on the new bridge at Cow Creek between Jonestown and Marble Falls was progressing on schedule.

Off Ranch-to-Market Road 1431 at Cow Creek, TxDOT’s Austin District said crews began pouring concrete columns to hold up the bridge deck and work on the abutments, which are supports at each end of the bridge.

The Cow Creek bridge was completely washed away July 5 during a severe flash flooding event, cutting off access to and from homes in the area.

TxDOT awarded a $4 million emergency contract to Hunter Industries to replace the 240-foot-long bridge. Hunter Industries said it hoped to finish work by Sept. 19.
