Crowd, heat shut down Hair Galleria grand opening on FM 1960

A large crowd at Hair Galleria’s grand opening caused traffic issues, leading to deputies managing safety concerns.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A grand opening event at the Hair Galleria on FM 1960 drew such a large crowd Friday morning that Harris County deputies were called to the scene to manage traffic and safety concerns.

The event, held at 2215 FM 1960 West, was promoted as a giveaway and quickly attracted an estimated 200 to 300 people. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the turnout created traffic congestion and prompted store organizers to shut down the event due to safety conditions.

EMS responded to the scene and evaluated two people for possible heat-related illnesses. No additional injuries were reported.

As of 9:30 a.m., the crowd was beginning to disperse.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office remains on-site to assist with crowd and traffic management.
