Man shot during robbery attempt outside Cloverleaf home on Victoria Street

HCSO said the suspect was found less than half a mile away from the initial scene.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An investigation is underway after a man accused of a robbery was shot in the leg Tuesday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

HCSO said the attempted robbery happened around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday on Victoria Street near Nadolney Street in the Cloverleaf area.

Investigators said the suspect, 18-year-old Anthony Lewis Cantera, approached his victim with a gun outside a home and took their wallet and keys.

During the robbery, other residents at the location came out of the home and confronted Cantera. HCSO said Cantera responded by shooting his gun at one of the residents. According to the sheriff’s office, that resident was armed as well and fired back, hitting Cantera in the leg.

Cantera reportedly took off, and investigators found him a short while later, less than half a mile from the initial scene. He was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

Investigators believe Cantera may have been involved in several other robberies. If you have any information about this incident or any other incidents he may have been involved in, you’re asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 713-221-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
