AUSTIN (KXAN) — Nearly 40 people were displaced after a two-alarm fire at an east Austin apartment complex occurred overnight.
First responders arrived at the scene of the fire in the 6400 block of Springdale Road around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the Austin Police Department, emergency crews were able to stabilize the scene, and the Austin Fire Department has begun conducting its investigation.
At 2:47 a.m., APD said there was no longer any danger to the community.
According to AFD, no injuries were reported; however, one firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion.
AFD said 26 adults and 11 children were displaced due to the fire. First responders said a total of eight apartment units were damaged, and three cars were burned.
Investigators were at the scene working to determine the cause of the fire, but APD said that the fire spread from multiple vehicle fires in the parking lot into a building, where several apartments were impacted.
