HOUSTON — A River Oaks mansion once belonging to former Texas Gov. John Connally was the most expensive Houston-area home sold the week of July 13, according to the Houston Association of Realtors.
The property’s famous ownership is commemorated with a Texas Historical Marker plaque at the entrance of the home.
Connally, a conservative Democrat, was one of the members of President John F. Kennedy’s entourage who was also shot in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963, when Kennedy was assassinated. Connally sustained serious injuries, including smashed ribs, a punctured lung and a shattered right wrist. Ultimately, he survived.
