Wilson family remembered in Kingwood for devotion to each other

Jeff, Amber, and Shiloh Wilson were in the Texas Hill Country for a rodeo when the July 4 flooding struck.

HUMBLE, Texas — A family of three lost in the tragic Kerr County flooding received their final farewell from family members and friends Friday. People packed the Humble Civic Center for the funerals for Jeff, Amber, and Shiloh Wilson.

The love and spirituality in the family really stood out during the service. A story was shared that when they found Shiloh‘s trunk, in it, there were two Bibles that he took with him everywhere.

There appears to be some solace knowing the Wilson three are still together.

“In this moment, we can all grieve the loss of these amazing people,” said the pastor presiding over the the service. “And we can also celebrate the amazing, almost indescribable incredible people that the Wilson 3 were.”

This family enjoyed the rodeo, music, movies, holidays and time together. And the grief of them leaving this world together undoubtedly has been tough for grandparents, parents and siblings.

“We are all in awe with the grace and dignity in which you have responded to this unimaginable event.”

This was a family that backed each other up whether it was Jeff cheering Shiloh every time he got on the back of the horse racing through the chute, or the echo of Amber’s voice.

“Both Jeff and Shiloh always knew where to look in those bleachers, where to look in those grandstands to see Amber cheering and smiling, and that’s what tied those three together.”

This is a family whose love and faith drove them and the impact they’ve had in their community won’t be forgotten. But it will be missed.

“There are no magic pills or formulas that makes grief go away. We don’t just get better one day and it all passes from our existence.”

The family says they will be holding a private burial in the coming days.
