A fatal motorcycle crash disrupts westside commuters, closing crucial Katy Freeway ramps.
KATY, Texas — A deadly motorcycle crash is causing major traffic disruptions for commuters coming from the westside Monday morning.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened early Monday on the Katy Freeway eastbound ramp leading to the Grand Parkway heading southbound. Investigators say the motorcycle rider fell from the ramp down to the feeder road area and did not survive.
According to Houston, the crash happened around 4:40 a.m. The eastbound ramp to Grand Parkway southbound remains closed due to the fatal crash investigation. In addition, the southbound feeder road for Highway 99 is closed at Katy Freeway.
Expect delays in the area through the morning commute as investigators work the scene. No estimated time for reopening has been provided.
Drivers wanting to head south to Highway 99 can drive past the ramp and take a U-turn to head south or exit before the ramp and use the service roads.
