Fort Worth cafe launches pet microchip scanning to reunite lost pets

The city’s first-ever “Chip Spot” has officially opened at Winslow’s Cafe in Fort Worth.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Having a pet go missing is a frightening experience for any owner. Thanks to a new program in Fort Worth, more lost pets have a greater chance of making it back home safely.

Fort Worth Animal Care & Control (FWACC) is making strides in reducing the number of animals that end up in shelters unnecessarily. The organization has launched an innovative new program designed to reunite lost pets with their owners, without the need for a trip to a shelter or veterinary clinic.

The city’s first-ever “Chip Spot” has officially opened at Winslow’s Cafe, located at 4101 Camp Bowie Boulevard.

In a first-of-its-kind partnership, the popular local cafe has been equipped with a microchip scanner, allowing staff to assist anyone who finds a stray dog or cat. The goal is simple: make it easier and faster for lost pets to find their way home.

  • Bring the lost pet to Winslow’s Cafe.
  • Staff will scan the animal for a microchip.
  • Use the QR code posted on the cafe’s window to access a database and contact the registered owner.

FWACC aims to expand the Chip Spot program throughout Fort Worth and invites other local businesses to get involved. Interested business owners or residents with a recommended location can contact the Communications Coordinator at 817-392-8914.
