A deadly crash has closed all eastbound lanes of I-10 East near downtown Houston.
HOUSTON — A deadly crash has shut down all eastbound mainlanes of I-10 East just east of downtown early Thursday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
Houston TranStar reports that the crash happened at 3:42 a.m. and is currently blocking all eastbound mainlanes of the freeway at Waco Street. Crews remain at the scene.
- Use US-59 Eastex Freeway southbound to connect with I-45 Gulf Freeway southbound as a workaround.
- Exit at Lockwood Drive or Gregg Street prior to the closure for local detours through the east side.
- Expect heavy delays for eastbound drivers heading into downtown Houston during the morning rush.
Houston drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the freeway reopens.
