49ers, Alfred Collins agree to 4-year, $10.3M deal: report

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Alfred Collins has reportedly signed his first NFL contract Wednesday evening.

Collins and the 49ers agreed to a 4-year, $10.3 million deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. More than $9 million is guaranteed, something Schefter called “a huge jump over last year’s No. 43 overall pick” and should “trigger multiple second-round signings.”

Schefter said that before Collins signed, 30 of the 32 NFL second-round draft picks hadn’t cut a deal with their teams. He expects that to change now that Collins has a deal in place with nearly 90% of it guaranteed.

Earlier Wednesday, former Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron signed a fully guaranteed 4-year, $18 million contract with the Broncos. It includes a $9.8 million signing bonus, according to Spotrac.

Collins and Barron were two of 12 Longhorns selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, a program record for the seven-round format that began in 1994. Texas has had 23 players drafted in the past two seasons, the most of any college program in the country.
