SAN SABA, Texas (FOX 44) – The mandatory evacuation notice for San Saba County is lifted and no longer in effect.
County Judge Jody Fauley said the San Saba River is still in flood stage, and there are still dangerous water crossings. The public is urged to continue to pay attention and make wise choices.
Fauley said the National Weather Service forecast model for the San Saba River says it will rise from its current level throughout Monday afternoon, however the rise is forecasted to crest at 27.5′ versus the forecasted 31.5′ of Sunday. While this is still a dangerous level and deserves your attention, the judge says at this level the city is hoping to not have any new damage or closures of highways.
You can view the document detailing the lifting of the evacuation order below.
This comes after residences located south of the San Saba River, east of Highway 16 (High Street) and North of Highway 190 (Wallace Street) were under a mandatory evacuation due to rising water levels. The river was rising faster than it did on July 4th, according to Judge Fauley.
The judge posted a statement for all properties which were damaged last Friday, stating they needed to evacuate their homes. It was recommended for those with properties close to being damaged to evacuate, as well.
