The city of Fort Worth will host a candlelight vigil for victims of flooding in the Texas Hill Country.
FORT WORTH, Texas — The Fort Worth community will come together to honor the lives of victims killed in the Texas Hill Country floods, the city announced.
It’s been 10 days since devastating floods ripped through parts of Central Texas, killing over 100 people. The search for at least 130 people continues, and the region isn’t out of the woods yet as rain continues to fall, impacting search operations over the weekend.
Prayers are needed, Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker said in a social media post. In response, the city of Fort Worth will host a candlelight vigil for victims of the flood.
The City of Fort Worth will host a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 14, according to a press release from the city. The vigil will serve as an opportunity to “grieve the lives lost and show support for those who have been affected by the flooding in the Texas Hill Country,” the city said.
The vigil will take place on the “back porch” of City Hall, located at 100 Fort Worth Trail, the release states. Attendees are asked to gather at 7 p.m., and the program is expected to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Green ribbons and candles will be distributed when attendees arrive.
Texans have been wrapping green ribbons around trees to show solidarity with victims of the flood.
