Maiden Fine Plants & Spirts in Fort Worth closes after 2 years

The vegan fine dining spot closed this week after two years.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A one-of-a-kind vegan fine dining restaurant in North Texas has closed after two years.

Maiden Fine Plants and Spirits at 1216 6th Avenue in Fort Worth, touted as Fort Worth’s only vegan fine-dining restaurant, was locked out of its location and permanently closed, according to a statement released on social media this week.

Maiden cited “an incredibly tough six months with rising costs, a slower season, and the lasting economic effects that so many small businesses are feeling right now” as the reasons for the abrupt closure.

Maiden said in the statement that the restaurant’s owners had fallen behind on rent and were attempting to renegotiate their lease for their space before they were unexpectedly locked out.

“We weren’t given notice before the lockout, and we’re still processing how abruptly this chapter has ended. It’s painful and disorienting but we know how much heart went into every part of Maiden, and how much love came back from this community in return,” Maiden said in a statement.

Maiden said their staff members were offered other employment opportunities.

“Maiden was more than a restaurant. It was a place for the tenderhearted. A place to feel safe, seen, and nourished. We’re proud of what we built, and we’re endlessly grateful to every person who walked through our doors,” the restaurant’s statement read. “We don’t know yet what comes next. But we’re still here. And we still believe in cruelty-free cuisine. Thanks for 2 amazing years.”

The restaurant served “cruelty-free cuisine”, including vegan pastas, short ribs and more.

Our content partners at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram report that Maiden was a spinoff of Spiral Diner and Bakery, a longtime vegan diner and bakery that’s still open at 1314 W. Magnolia Avenue.
