KERR COUNTY, Texas — Two of Texas’ most beloved brands — H-E-B and Whataburger — are lending support in the wake of devastating floods that have ravaged the Kerrville area and surrounding Hill Country communities.
As search and rescue efforts continue, both companies mobilized to assist emergency responders and displaced families with immediate aid and long-term support.
In a 3:30 p.m. update Sunday, officials confirmed 68 people are dead, including 40 adults and 28 children.
In a statement, H-E-B, which began in Kerrville, called the flooding “enormous devastation.” The grocery chain said it is working closely with the Red Cross, local officials and first responders to support critical needs.
The company has already dispatched aid not only to Kerrville but also to other impacted areas, including San Angelo and Marble Falls.
“Our teams are staying close to the hardest-hit areas, and we will continue to provide needed support as these tragic situations evolve,” H-E-B said. “We hold compassion and strength for everyone who has been impacted, and we remain committed to offer unwavering support to our communities.
In a news conference Sunday, City of Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring Jr. said H-E-B would be setting up a mobile kitchen in Ingram, Texas.
Another Texas staple, Whataburger, has stated it is on the ground providing meals to emergency responders and community leaders.
In its statement, the company acknowledged the pain and uncertainty still facing many families.
“We send strength and hope to those still waiting for answers,” the company shared. “We know the process of recovery and rebuilding isn’t just about responding in a moment of crisis, but in supporting our neighbors in the months ahead.”
Both companies praised the tireless efforts of first responders, volunteers and community members, pledging to continue their involvement well beyond the immediate aftermath.
Texan Kendra Scott also had a fundraiser for the area. The popular jewelry brand offered bracelets that were quickly sold out.
