The runway reopened after about three hours, but an area of the airfield remains contained as officials investigate.
DALLAS — An unauthorized vehicle entered an area used for plane landing and takeoff at Dallas Love Field on July 4, closing a runway for hours, officials say.
Dallas Love Field says the vehicle drove into the air operations area of the airport, used for plane landing and takeoff, at 6:10 a.m., and the Dallas Police Department’s Love Field unit responded.
The Federal Aviation Administration closed Runway 13L/31R at Love Field because of security concerns as police investigated the incident, according to the airport.
The runway was reopened to air traffic at about 9:17 a.m., but an area of the airfield remains contained amid the continuing investigation on the east side of the airport near FBO Business Jet Center, Love Field confirmed.
The investigation is ongoing.
