Cyclist killed in hit-and-run crash in east Harris County, sheriff says

A cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash along I-10 in east Harris County, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. The driver of the big rig didn’t stop at the scene.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A person on a bicycle was killed in a hit-and-run crash in east Harris County on Wednesday, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Gonzalez posted to social media about the incident just before 1 p.m.

He said it happened along the East Freeway near Market Street and Dell Dale Street.

According to Gonzalez, preliminary information showed that the bicyclist was hit by an 18-wheeler, and the driver of the big rig didn’t stay at the scene.

Northbound and southbound traffic on Beltway 8 was diverted, and the I-10 exit for Dell Dale was closed. Drivers were told to exit at Sheldon and U-turn to get on Dell Dale.
