610 West Loop feeder road shut down near San Felipe do to road repairs

Crews are initiating emergency repairs near 610 West Loop, prompting driver delay warnings.

HOUSTON — Emergency repairs are now underway near the 610 West Loop and San Felipe, and drivers in the area are being warned to expect delays as TxDOT crews work to address the issue.

The feeder road near San Felipe is currently closed with no estimated timeline for when repairs will be completed, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Crews have blocked the area with cones, but as of this morning, no active repair work had begun.

What drivers need to know

  • You can still access the feeder via Post Oak Parkway, but
  • Right turns onto San Felipe are not allowed, which may impact morning commute routes.

A reminder about heat and road safety

While it’s not yet clear what caused the damage in this case, Houston’s intense summer heat can lead to buckled roads and sudden closures.

While it’s unclear if that’s the case here, it’s an important reminder that this summer we could deal with buckled roads resulting in a closure like this, so repairs can be made.

Just last month, a similar road issue shut down part of the 610 West Loop feeder near North Braeswood when the pavement buckled unexpectedly.

KHOU 11 will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as TXDOT releases more information.
