3 west Houston ZIP codes rank among nation’s top 50 for home growth

Fulshear’s 77441 ZIP code added more than 2,100 homes over a decade.

HOUSTON — A new report by RentCafe confirms what those who are paying attention already know: Most new homes in Greater Houston are being built on the far west side.

Specifically, three ZIP codes are among the top 50 highest home growth areas in the country: Fulshear’s 77441 is No. 4 nationwide, Katy’s 77493 is No. 25 and Richmond’s 77407 lands on No. 45.

RentCafe is an apartment search website that is part of Santa Barbara, California-based Yardi Systems, which provides property management software. Using U.S. Census Bureau data from 2014 to 2023, it looked at the nation’s 32,000 ZIP codes with at least 1,000 housing units in 2023 — from apartments to single-family homes — with an occupancy rate of at least 89.5% and an inventory change of at least 51% between 2014 and 2023.

The 77441 ZIP code was the fastest-growing in Texas. The area, which spans north and south of FM 1093 from FM 1463 to Simonton, added more than 2,100 homes over 10 years to more than 10,600.
