HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 26-year-old woman was found dead Monday night in the Woodland Oaks area, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives said they responded around 10 p.m. to Woodland Oaks Drive near Shady Oaks Drive after an unknown male called 911. He reported a dead woman lying in the street at the end of a cul-de-sac.

Deputies and EMS confirmed the woman was dead at the scene. Investigators determined her death was not a suicide or natural cause.

The woman was identified as Kaylee Taylor, 26.

Investigation details

Detectives said a friend of the victim arrived on scene and helped confirm her identity, as well as why she was in the area.

Deputies said security video was not available on the street itself. The surrounding neighborhood, according to investigators, was mostly vacant or had homes torn down due to recent flooding.

Multiple pieces of evidence were collected at the scene, investigators added.

Next steps

The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office removed Taylor’s body. An autopsy will be performed within 24 hours to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Detectives are urging anyone with information about this case to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
