16-year-old arrested after allegedly shooting fellow 16-year-old in the face, officials say

A 16-year-old was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly shot another teen in the face, Kaufman County officials said.

FORNEY, Texas — A 16-year-old was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting of another teen, according to the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office. 

Officers responded around 7:57 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, to 2000 Pine Stone Lane in Forney, the sheriff’s office said in a press release. When police arrived, they found a 16-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the face, the release states. The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition. 

Investigators later identified the suspect as a 16-year-old male, officials said. The suspect was arrested and taken to an out-of-county juvenile detention center, the release states. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to officials. 

The incident remains under investigation.
