The 11-year-old bicyclist died after being struck by a pickup truck outside Clute Intermediate School Thursday morning, police said.
CLUTE, Texas — A bicyclist was killed Thursday morning in a crash outside Clute Intermediate School, according to the Clute Police Department.
Police said the crash happened around 7:20 a.m. in front of the school.
According to investigators, an 11-year-old female student riding her bicycle was hit by a GMC Sierra pickup truck that was leaving the school parking lot.
Police said the driver stopped immediately after the crash and tried to render aid.
Authorities said the girl was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Jack Brown.
Multiple agencies responded to and investigated the crash scene, including the Clute Police Department, Lake Jackson Police Department, the Lake Jackson Fire Marshal’s Office and the Brazosport Independent School District Police Department.
“The Clute Police Department prays for all individuals involved in this tragic accident,” the department said in the release.
