1 dead in shooting on North Side, San Antonio police say

SAPD: A 28-year-old man died after exchanging gunfire with someone he met for a transaction

SAN ANTONIO – A man was killed in a shooting on the North Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Authorities said the shooting happened just before 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1500 block of Mardell Street.

According to police, the man met up with another person for a transaction made on the online marketplace OfferUp. Officers said the man and the other person began shooting at each other.

The 28-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his back, SAPD said. It is unclear what led up to the shooting.

The victim, who was accompanied by a female companion, was then driven from the shooting.

Police said the 28-year-old was pronounced dead in the 1700 block of Babcock Drive.

An SAPD officer on scene said it does not yet have any information on a suspected shooter.
